Hawks Talon GC Moves To 2-1 During 2019 Regular Season

ATLANTA – Friday evening, Hawks Talon Gaming Club split two games during Week 2 of the 2019 NBA 2K League Regular Season. Playing without the club’s first overall pick from the 2018 NBA 2K League Expansion Draft, Dat Boy Shotz (Connor Rodrigues), the result of the team’s first matchup was a 68-70 loss to Jazz Gaming. The outcome of the second game after Dat Boy Shotz returned to the starting lineup was a 66-54 victory over Kings Guard Gaming led by Hawks Talon’s dominant fourth quarter where they outscored their opponent by a score of 20 to 8.
“Without Dat Boy Shotz, we faced significant adversity in the first game, and we fell just short of coming away with the win,” Hawks Talon GC’s Team Manager and Head Coach Wesley Acuff said. “I’m excited by the way our team took control of the second game when it mattered most.”
In the team’s first matchup at Jazz Gaming, Rando (Randolph Moreno) finished the game with a season-high 27 points to go along with 12 assists. DevGoss (Devin Gossett) put up 19 points and ARSONAL (Devon Peek) totaled 13 points and a team-high 13 rebounds, resulting in his second double-double of the season. Making his debut with the franchise, XxSTL2LAxX (Mark Hampton Jr.) finished with nine points, three steals and two assists. The team acquired XxSTL2LAxX in the fourth round (64th overall) in the 2019 NBA 2K League Draft.
In the team’s second game of the evening against Kings Guard Gaming, Dat Boy Shotz led the team with 20 points and six steals to go along with two assists and two rebounds. This performance led him to recognition as the Intel Player of the Game. Hawks Talon’s Rando scored 16 points and added a team-high eight assists and DevGoss finished with 12 points, two assists and a team-high two blocks. ARSONAL put together his third consecutive double-double of the 2019 NBA 2K League Regular Season, totaling 11 points and a team-high 13 rebounds.
Hawks Talon has a bye week scheduled during Week 3 of the 2019 NBA 2K League Regular Season, but will return to play two games in Week 4, the first against Mavs Gaming (6 p.m. ET) and the second vs. NetsGC (8 p.m. ET) on Wednesday, May 1. These games will be livestreamed on the league’s Twitch and YouTube channels.
