Hawks Talon GC Bow Out of Slam Open With Loss to Lakers Gaming and Pistons GT

Hawks Talon Returns to Action in the SWITCH OPEN on Wednesday, March 20th

ATLANTA – Hawks Talon GC, the official NBA 2K League affiliate of the Atlanta Hawks, fell to No. 2 Lakers Gaming 3-0 and No. 8 Pistons GT 3-2 on Friday night and were eliminated from the SLAM OPEN.

Hawks Talon finished sixth out of 32 teams in the SLAM OPEN with a 3-2 record as the No. 22 seed, rattling off wins against No. 11 Bucks Gaming (3-0), No. 27 Rim Runners (3-1), and No. 19 Gen.G Tigers (3-1).

“We found our identity in this tournament, the way we started and the way we ended are two different teams,” said Hawks Talon head coach Ismael ‘MAELO’ Diaz Tolentino. “We made a deep run and will learn from this, but we’re in a good rhythm now and have to bounce back and keep winning.”

Hawks Talon will begin the SWITCH OPEN on Wednesday, March 20th, with two matches against Nets GC at 7:30 p.m. and the Gen.G Tigers of Shanghai at 9:00 p.m.

In the same format as the SLAM OPEN, after one week of group play all 25 NBA 2K League teams and seven community teams will advance to a 32-team double-elimination bracket for two weeks.

The SWITCH is the second 3v3 tournament of the NBA 2K League season and will run from March 20th-April 6th.
