Hawks Talon GC Defeated By Kings Guard In Best-Of-Three Series

ATLANTA – On Friday evening, Hawks Talon Gaming Club, the official NBA 2K League affiliate of the Atlanta Hawks, lost in two games as part of a best-of-three series over Kings Guard Gaming, the official affiliate of the Sacramento Kings, in front of an international viewing audience. The results of each game were 75-71, 63-72 and 60-73.

“Credit to Kings Guard Gaming. They proved tonight why they are one of the league’s best teams,” Hawks Talon GC’s Team Manager and Head Coach Wesley Acuff said. “During tonight’s series, our team proved they never back away from a challenge, and I’m proud of the fight they put up. We will review the tape as we prepare for our games next week against Wizards District Gaming and 76ers GC.”

In the first game, Hawks Talon went on a 19-4 run in the first half which helped the team finish ahead in the final score of 75-71. Hawks Talon’s BP (Michael-Diaz-Cruz) led the game with 40 points and eight assists. FOLLOWTHEGOD (Kwan Niblack, Jr.) totaled 15 points after hitting a career-high five three’s. KEL (Mykel Wilson) added 11 points and two steals, and LEE (Lee Lamb) finished with nine points, a team-high five steals and a game-high 14 rebounds. Rounding out the group was MRSTYLEZ (Andrew Valle) who finished with two rebounds, two assists and two steals.

In the second game, Atlanta’s own KEL scored a team-high 22 points and four steals, and BP added 21 points and seven assists. LEE tallied a double-double performance after totaling 12 points and 10 rebounds. FOLLOWTHEGOD and MRSTYLEZ each contributed with three points.

In the third game, Hawks Talon’s BP scored a game-high 29 points and added seven assists. LEE contributed with 17 points, eight rebounds and five assists. KEL added eight points and two assists, while FOLLOWTHEGOD and MRSTYLEZ each contributed with three points.

Hawks Talon (4-6) will continue its remote gameplay in two games next week. The first will occur at 9 p.m. ET on Tuesday, July 14 against Wizards District Gaming, the official affiliate of the Washington Wizards. The second will take place at 9 p.m. ET on Friday, July 17 against 76ers GC, the official affiliate of the Philadelphia 76ers. These games will air live on ESPN’s digital platforms and the NBA 2K League’s Twitch and YouTube channels.
