Education in Esports Event Featured Panel of Esports Industry Experts Plus Breakout Stations
ATLANTA – On Tuesday evening, Hawks Talon GC, the official NBA 2K League Affiliate of the Atlanta Hawks, and Diggi Games by the Georgia Lottery hosted “Careers Beyond the Console” at State Farm Arena for local college students. Students had the opportunity to learn about the world of esports and speak to Hawks Talon players and Director of Esports Wesley Acuff, as well as other professionals in the esports industry.
“Hawks Talon GC is about making students and leaders of tomorrow aware that they can build careers in esports and gaming,” said Acuff. “We are grateful for all the students who came out and for all of our brilliant speakers who gave their time to helping the next generation.”
The event was hosted by local radio personality Manni Supreme. A panel of experts included Acuff, Ducky from Ghost Gaming, Game Producer for IGT Becka McFarland, Co-Founder of Cxmmunity Julian Fitzgerald and NBA 2K League Social Strategy and Content Manager Jamel Torrence. Students then had the opportunity to break out into smaller groups, led by members of the Hawks Talon GC business operations team, to learn about different departments within esports.
“We are proud to partner with the Hawks Talon GC for ‘Careers Beyond the Console,’” Georgia Lottery President and CEO Gretchen Corbin said. “Supporting the dreams of the students of today, who will become the leaders of tomorrow, is at the heart of our mission to maximize revenues for Georgia’s HOPE Scholarship and Pre-K programs. We are excited to be a part of this incredible opportunity for Georgia students.”
